Join the 24HourProject and help create a G20 Photo Exhibition showcasing our city’s authentic spirit.

The moment has arrived, Jozi. On 13 September 2025, just two months before global leaders gather in our city for the G20 Summit, we have an unprecedented opportunity to control our own narrative and show the world what Johannesburg is truly made of.
We’re proud to announce the launch of the 24HourProject – Johannesburg Edition: a call to action that embodies everything Jozi My Jozi stands for. This isn’t just photography; it’s our Babize Bonke moment, where every citizen becomes a storyteller and every voice contributes to the authentic story of our city.

Our Moment
As Johannesburg prepares to host the G20 Summit on 22 – 23 November 2025, this is our opportunity to show off to the world not just our meeting venues, but our people, our communities, and the extraordinary transformation happening at grassroots level.
“The G20 Summit in 2025 is more than a global event; it is a stepping-stone towards a brighter future for Johannesburg,” says Robbie Brozin, co-founder of Nando’s and Jozi My Jozi director. “This photography project allows us to document that journey and show world leaders the real spirit of our city.”
The campaign aligns perfectly with our strategic intent to ensure ‘the G20 is truly a stepping-stone towards a brighter future for Johannesburg’ and all those who live in it.
Making the Unseen Seen
For 24 consecutive hours from 00:00 on 13 September, citizens across Johannesburg will join photographers from across the world in documenting our city as part of a global photography initiative spanning over 100 countries. The 24HourProject – Johannesburg Edition directly supports our mission to ‘make the unseen seen and give the voiceless a voice’.
From street vendors in Hillbrow to entrepreneurs in Maboneng, from community gatherings in Soweto to creative spaces in Braamfontein – this is our chance to document authentic daily life across our city and show the world that we are our constitution in action.
“This project provides Johannesburg with an unprecedented platform to showcase our authentic character to a global audience,” notes Bea Swanepoel, CEO of Jozi My Jozi. “While world leaders discuss policy, our photographers will be documenting the lived reality of constitutional democracy in action.”

A Global Stage for Local Stories
The 24HourProject reaches millions of people worldwide through international exhibitions, annual photo books, and social media campaigns. Since 2012, the project has raised over $30,000 for various charitable causes, with 2025 focusing on supporting children in conflict zones through Doctors Without Borders.
But here’s what makes this special for us: selected photographs from our project will be featured in a special G20 Photo Exhibition, showcasing authentic Johannesburg stories to world leaders, international delegates, and global media during the summit period.
This is our opportunity to ensure that when the world looks at Johannesburg during the G20 Summit, they hear and see the authentic voices and stories of our people.
Building on Our Transformation Success
We know that to build a city, you must start from the ground up. The 24HourProject will document the impact of our interventions – from our 650+ solar streetlights to the restored Nelson Mandela Bridge, from our community empowerment initiatives to the daily acts of ubuntu that define our city.
This photography project captures our grassroots transformation in real-time, creating a permanent archive of Johannesburg’s journey toward becoming a world-class African city where every citizen thrives.

How South Africa’s G20 Theme Aligns with Our Mission
South Africa has adopted the theme “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability” for its G20 presidency – values that align perfectly with the inclusive, democratic spirit of this project. Through your photographs, we’ll demonstrate these principles in action across our city.
The 13 September photography project strategically precedes the G20 Leaders’ Summit, giving us the perfect opportunity to set the narrative before world leaders arrive. Instead of letting others define us, we will show them who we really are.
