The Craft and Design Institute (CDI) is a non-profit company with 25 years of success in developing creative people, small businesses and the craft and design sector at large in South Africa. With a mission to build a thriving creative economy, the CDI unlocks creativity, design and innovation to grow the South African economy – specifically by supporting creative entrepreneurs to do business better.
The CDI has a unique combination of market, product and business development services help business owners to move from the margins into the mainstream.
In just the last decade, the CDI has leveraged R200m direct investment into 1 200 SMMEs, stimulated the creation of 4 960 sustainable jobs, and generated additional investment in excess of R420m.
With 8 400 members nationwide (representing over 41 000 jobs), and growing, CDI helps enterprises to develop the right product or service for the right market, and helps them get there while putting in place sound business systems.
