ABOUT US

Jozi My Jozi

The Mission

Our aim is to inspire the people of Jozi, Mzansi and around the world to help bring hope and instil pride back into our city.

To do this we needed to create movement for the people, by the people, that is inspired by our constitution.

The purpose of the movement is to connect every person who wants to make a difference, from private to public sector and the everyday people of Jozi, to inspire sustainable solutions for the inner city and create a snowball of positive change that spreads across South Africa.

And so the Jozi My Jozi movement was born

The Movement

The Jozi My Jozi movement is an ODE to the city we love.

We want to remind each other of what we have as well as our future potential.

And encourage people to use the love we have for our city to help fix it.

This is not another marketing campaign

This is a catalyst of change.

A super connector.

A call to action encouraging people to:

RElove

REimagine

REexperience

The magic of our beautiful city

Sustainable & Resilient Solutions

SAFETY AND SECURITY

Creating a safe city is a prerequisite for many of our other projects to work, and is leading our project rollout. This portfolio aims to create a safe city, for our businesses, people and their property. This includes implementing physical security measures to protect assets, creating perceived safety through visible safety measures and adequate lighting, cleanliness, and well-maintained roads and walkways. Our approach includes tangible elements of safety and security (e.g. barriers and lighting) as well as subjective elements (e.g. the feeling of safety and overall cleanliness) to create a safe Inner City.

EDUCATION

Educations role in rejuvenating our Inner City for future generations cannot be underestimated. This portfolio aims to strengthen and redefine education in the city through a number of key projects and partnerships to streamline resources for better impact. The vision is to create an education precinct through knowledge and innovation supported by educational institutions (e.g. The Maharishi Institute, University of the Witwatersrand (WITS), University of Johannesburg (UJ), and others.

SOCIAL engagement

Social inclusion and wellbeing are an important foundation to a thriving city. This portfolio aims to strengthen community well-being and tackle homelessness, one of our biggest social challenges in the city. This includes mobile outreach efforts (with baseline assessments), providing homeless services and day centres, as well as shelters for night time safety. Psycho-social services cover rehabilitation, mental health support, and occupational therapy, supported by social work. Work readiness programs and job opportunities are also a big focus of this portfolio, created through on-the-job training. In order to create a sustainable impact, we will be running public awareness campaigns to emphasize the importance of compassionate yet responsible giving to ensure resources are optimally utilized.

COMMERCE

Commerce in the Inner City is focused on rejuvenating businesses and economic activity. This portfolio aims to bring businesses back to the heart of the city, establishing Central Improvement Districts for urban enhancement, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMMEs), and embracing digitalization for modern and efficient business operations. These efforts are crucial for creating a dynamic and thriving commercial environment.

ARTS AND CULTURE

Arts and Culture enable the beating creative heart of the Inner City. This portfolio aims to promote self-employment within the arts, empower individuals to pursue their creative passions and contribute to the cultural and economic activity in the community
