Our early childhood development (ECD) pillar fights for the city’s smallest citizens to learn, play and be safe in centres that are registered, supported and alive with possibilities. We back over 140 ECD centres in the inner city and Soweto, many hustling in unsafe buildings with too few resources and under-trained practitioners. 

We don’t arrive with a saviour script; we listen, map the ecosystem and then move. 

A mass registration imbizo with 70 principals, the government, funders and training partners sparked a two-year, data-driven plan co-created with Sesame Workshop and the Leratong Community Hub. Now we act as a super-connector, pulling the Department of Social Development, Gauteng Department of Education social workers, Grow ECD, Nal’ibali, Care for Education and others into a coalition of the willing. 

From registration pathways and infrastructure upgrades to “ECD in a Box”, toy-making, Lego Duplo training and youth data collectors, we’re building solid foundations for Joburg’s next generation, one centre at a time.
