For 122 years, the Johannesburg High Court has served South Africa’s busiest court roll, with more than 24 000 civil cases finalised in 2024/2025 alone. After 27 years of minimal maintenance, its infrastructure can no longer keep pace with its purpose: a water shortage forced the court to temporarily close in February 2025, and its fire pump has not been serviced since 2023.

Jozi My Jozi, together with the Department of of Public Works and Infrastructure, the judiciary and appointed technical partners Henry Fagan, GAPP and Crane Group Consulting, has completed a full technical assessment and is now raising the R360-million needed to restore the building in tiers, so funders can back exactly the intervention that matters most to them, from eliminating today’s critical safety risks to restoring long-term dignity and functionality.
