Volunteering and social cohesion

In a divided city, we use volunteering as a quiet act of rebellion: put kids from different worlds on the same team and watch the labels fall off. That’s the heartbeat of our social cohesion and volunteering work.
The first chapter was the Inter-School Volunteering Collaborative – five Johannesburg schools choosing to build a different kind of city together. Now we’re scaling up.
Schools for Good is our new engine: a growing network of schools forming long-term partnerships, sharing resources and running joint projects across Orlando, the CBD and beyond. Each regional chapter hosts its own volunteering days, with two big annual gatherings where everyone shows up in one space.
Alongside this, the Impact Conference brings schools, NGOs and universities into the same room to swap lessons and shape new collaborations. The 2026 edition, on Mandela Day, pushes a simple idea: don’t wait for 18 July to matter – make every day a Mandela Day through consistent, community-led action.
